The standard formula is simple: multiply the GPA by 25 to get the percentage midpoint, or divide the percentage by 25 to get the GPA. A 3.0 GPA times 25 equals 75%, which lands in the B range. Going the other way, an 88% divided by 25 gives a 3.52 GPA.
This calculator also assigns an approximate letter grade using the grade boundaries above. Because real cutoffs vary by school, treat the letter grade column as a reference, not an official transcript entry.

A 4.0 GPA is approximately 97 to 100 percent. It represents a perfect A average and is the highest score on the standard 4.0 scale used by most US high schools and colleges.
A 3.7 GPA converts to roughly 90 to 92 percent, which corresponds to an A- letter grade. At many colleges, a 3.7 is considered an honors-level GPA and often qualifies for Dean's List recognition.
Divide the percentage by 25 to get an approximate GPA on the 4.0 scale. For example, 80 percent divided by 25 equals a 3.2 GPA. Use the reverse converter field at the top of this page for any percentage.
A 3.0 GPA equals roughly 83 to 86 percent, which is a solid B average. It meets most college admission minimums, satisfies eligibility for many scholarships, and is generally competitive for most employers.
